Spinning tunes on Vinyl Platter Matters

As I sit here listening to my Mobile Fidelity Records vinyl repress of Columbia records classic, “Ellington At Newport” I feel the stress of the day melting away at the rhythm of track A1, "Festival Junction": https://open.spotify.com/track/6ovjdSJpBamIgcIQJCQhO9
I’m thinking to myself; how can I share the awesome feeling of discovering music over and over again? How can I share with my friends, students, family and fellow musical adventure explorers?
By posting blog reviews of my favorite recordings and links to Spotify tracks that are available, I can create a landing spot for fellow musical explorers. The question then becomes, how can I light up the runway so these explorers can find my landing spot?
Would I venture into the wilderness of social networks like facebook or snapchat? Would I make Youtube clips and do reviews? I find myself thinking “F#&K THAT” I hate facecrack and how it addicts people to mundane habits of endlessly scrolling other peoples lives, and what the hell is a snapchat anyhow? Boobtube clips sound like a lot of work, and I don’t have time to waste on creating videos to post, that gets in the way of listening to music.
As I hit on track B2 “jeeps Blues”: https://open.spotify.com/track/0xjp9SMMVbxtJ2VPbaZWwt
I begin to form a plan…..
How do I currently enjoy communicating with people? I like chatting face to face!
Where do I enjoy chatting most? Everywhere, everyday!
When and where do I discuss my musical interests? Whenever I can
How do I send people off with my information right now? WITH MY BUSINESS CARDS!!!
I go through a lot of freaking business cards! I’m gonna create a business card for my Vinyl
Platter Matters website! AND IMA GONNA PUT MUSIC ON THEM!
I am going to hand these out with my website address and my Discogs collection information on them. When I talk about music, when I want to share my music, when I want to buy or sell my music, I will hand out a card, and I can post sample tracks on the USB.
As the evening wears on and I’m refining my plan and deciding on how to design my cards, I slip on some “Atomic Basie” https://open.spotify.com/album/10l9GvNgkuRCNstbOgz2mG?si=1XWw94gqSnm0cUvA7OGICA
My mind begins to wander into other thoughts, is this a cost effective way of promoting my site? Are business cards too yesterday for a new generation of musical explorers? Do they even make computers with USB ports anymore? Hell, who even uses computers anymore? Everyone just uses their phones now. Well there goes the USB business card idea, crashing like the snare drum of Basie’s big band!
But hang on the idea’s not dead? What about business cards with a QR code to my blogsite? Naw boring….
Back to the drawing board, maybe I’ll just create a new “Group” on Discogs, set the privacy to invites only and not invite anyone, then walk down to the local record store and buy a new record, I’m thinking Sturgill Simpson https://open.spotify.com/album/5I3UdCxtIh6hkQ7rMPUvA4?si=ebPROZ4qT0CEcpAdu-2XRw
Peace out, ya’ll
